We cannot all succeed if some of us are held back.
We have much to celebrate about women. All over the world women contribute to social, economic, cultural, and political achievement. But there is still a long way to go. Did you know that 70% of the world’s poor are women. Especially in developing countries, women are discriminated against in education, health care, and employment.
That is why Student Leaders, Georgia Mackay and Ben Mills, together with the Tradition and Celebrations Service Team organised a celebration at our school for International Women’s Day on the 8th of March. They encouraged other students to show their support for gender equality and women’s empowerment throughout the world by purchasing and wearing an official United Nations International Women’s Day ribbon.
We hope the video below ‘Fight Like a Girl’ by Kalie Shorr, inspires you to commit to action that supports the dignity of women. Together we can create a brighter future for women and girls and ensure gender equality becomes a reality for all.
